About this test

The questions were written by Mariana Lucas Aguiar, neuropsychologist, and follow the areas an adult autism assessment also covers. A screening diagnoses nothing: it is there to help you decide whether it is worth booking an appointment.

Mariana Lucas Aguiar, Neuropsychologist

Hello! I'm Mariana, a neuropsychologist.

I have supported many people who spent years feeling that something didn't make sense but without knowing why.

This simple test was created to help you start reflecting on your profile in a safe and structured way. It does not replace a clinical evaluation, but it can be a first step to better understand who you are.

When we understand how we function, we stop thinking that the problem is "us". And we start building a life with more compassion, more authenticity, and choices that respect who we really are. And that makes all the difference!

Questions people ask

Is this test reliable?
It is a screening, which means it is there to help you work out whether it is worth going further. The questions were written by a neuropsychologist and follow the areas a full assessment also covers, but this is not a normed instrument with a cut-off score, and the result has no diagnostic value.
How long does it take?
Three to five minutes. There are 20 questions, most of them on a five-point scale from "never" to "always", and you do not need to prepare for any of them. Answer with whatever comes to mind first, which is usually the most honest answer.
Is this test for women?
It is, and that was the point. Many women reach adulthood without ever being assessed because they learned to mask well, and the test asks about masking for exactly that reason. If you recognised yourself in those questions more than in the others, that is worth taking to an appointment.
What do I do with the result?
If it tells you something, the next step is talking to a psychologist or a psychiatrist. It helps to bring concrete examples from your day rather than the result on its own, because that is what the person across from you will ask for. You can also save the detailed result by email and take it with you.
Does this replace an autism assessment?
It does not. An adult assessment takes several sessions, sets your life history against proper instruments and, wherever possible, against what someone who has known you a long time can add. This test is what you can do in five minutes before booking a first appointment.
